KEERFA-MOVEMENT AGAINST RACISM AND FASCIST THREAD
COMMUNITY OF AFGHANS REFUGEES AND MIGRANTS IN GREECE
The heart of the seventeen years Afgan refugee couldn’t hold out …
Appeal for solidarity
He expired on Monday 29/2 in the Intensive Care Unit of the Evangelismos Hospital in Athens: Mohammed Isak, the seventeen years old from Afghanistan, despite the titanic efforts of doctors to save him. He had been transferred by helicopter from Chios island. He was accompanied by his father Mohammedi. They had managed to make the dangerous crossing by sea, but the weak heart of the child could not resist and stopped after a heart attack.
The consolation for the father was the warm embrace of solidarity experienced at Evangelismos, with a group of women who had their own patients, taking care of him fondly. So did the healthcare professionals of the hospital.
From then on an odyssey begins for the burial of the refugee child. No government agency shows any concern. There is no Muslim cemetery in Athens, actually there exists only in Komotini, where his funeral can take place.
It is tragic that in Athens there is no burial ground for people with Muslim religion.
KEERFA and the Community of Afghan Refugees and Migrants in Greece, urge financial support for transportation of coffin of Mohammed Isak and his burial in Komotini.
