Declarations by movements in World Against Racism and Fascism
Why is this mobilisation important, internationally, and locally?
Save Immigrants Osaka, Japan
If we push back immigrants and refugees, they will try to seek more difficult and dangerous paths. We need to unlock all doors, and human possibilities now.
Ligue Tunisienne des Droits de l’Homme, Tunisia
On March 22, we must stand together to reject hate, protect our diverse society, and uphold human rights for all.
In Tunisia, the rise of fascism and racism threatens the values of dignity, equality, and freedom that our revolution fought for.
Unitat contra el feixisme i el racisme, Catalunya
In the face of a far-right that is growing and coordinating internationally, we need to share experiences and struggles to stop them around the world.
In Catalunya and the Spanish state generally, we face both the far-right and worsening state racism; we need to strengthen and extend the united struggle against them.
Zjednoczeni Przeciw Rasizmowi (United Against Racism), Poland
Antiracists and antifascists will come together in Warsaw on 22 of March to give our united answer to the threat coming from the rise of the extreme and fascist right internationally.
We are demonstrating against the deadly policies of the government on the Polish-Belarussian border and against its new attacks on the rights of refugees and migrants and also to show people the true colours of the racist and fascist Confederation which is rising in opinion polls
Comité 21 Maart, Netherlands
Call for National Resistance Against Apartheid Policies.
The Netherlands is at risk of becoming a society where discrimination, exclusion, and the erosion of democratic freedoms are normalized. Muslims, refugees, and other Dutch citizens with a migration background are being scapegoated, while fundamental rights are being dismantled.
This is not the time to remain silent. We call on everyone to join the national resistance against this politics of division and oppression. This means organizing, mobilizing, and taking action. Only together can we turn the tide and fight for a Netherlands where equality, freedom, and justice prevail.
Platform Stop Racisme en Fascisme, Netherlands
Inspired by the blockades in Germany, the Platform Stop Racisme & Fascisme organizes, together with other groups, a broad counterprotest to prevent the far-right from spreading their hatred on the streets.
Dutch nazi-party NVU wants to use the International Day against Racism to march through the town of Baarn. We have to prevent small nazi groups from taking to the streets, now that they feel more space due to Trump, Wilders and other far right politicians in power.
Aufstehen gegen Rassismus, Germany
80 years after the end of the Second World War and in view of the global shift to the right, we stand up and say: Never again!
Nazis march through Berlin and various other cities in Germany on 22 March. They feel emboldened by the AfD’s high election results and racist rhetoric also from the centre of society.
We are organising counter-protests across Germany. At the same time, we are protesting against racism and fascism, against exclusion, stigmatisation, Islamophobia, anti-Semitism, antiziganism and all forms of racism.
KEERFA, Greece
On March 22, Athens and other cities in Greece are sending the message that we will not let Trump escalate his racist campaign against migrants, reinforcing the far right and fascism everywhere.
We are demonstrating to stop the murderous EU’s fortress policy of closed borders that has turned the Mediterranean into a watery grave for thousands of refugees.
We demand that the organisers of the biggest racist crime, the drowning of more than 600 refugees in the Pylos shipwreck, go to jail. The Greek government, the Greek Coast Guard and FRONTEX have engaged in a horrific pushback, leading the refugees to their deaths.
These racist policies, together with Islamophobia and the attack on the movement in solidarity with Palestine, are strengthening the far right across Europe.
In Greece, the Trade Unions GSEE and ADEDY support the international mobilisation on 22 March. So does Athens municipality. The relatives of the victims of train crash in Tempi are uniting their voices with relatives of victims of Pylos, with the support of artists at Syntagma square.
We demand open borders for refugees, and to bring the murderers of the Pylos shipwreck to justice. Fascism will not pass!
African Diaspora Workers Network (ADWN), South Africa
We demand justice for the more than 87 artisanal miners predominantly migrants who were starved to death at Stilfontein, South Africa while toiling to bring food on the table for their impoverished Black households. On that note, we demand that the state decriminalises poverty and rather recognise and formalise artisanal mining as a legitimate livelihood strategy. The miners were starved to death through a deliberate state-sanctioned operation dubbed, “Vala Mgodi”. This is totally against the international statutes on human rights and anti-racism, ILO Convention 143 including the country’s national constitution. A loud No to racism, fascism and classism.
The state should uphold constitutionalism and hold large mining companies accountable for the atrocities as a result of their failure to comply with rehabilitation of abandoned shafts, some run by their cronies!
